Mr. Friestad is an Associate in the Global Regulatory Relations Group at Morgan Stanley. In this role, Mr. Friestad assists with the strategic, centralized management of the supervisory activities of the Firm’s regulators and related developments globally, focusing on regulatory reviews and examinations and continuous monitoring activities. Mr. Friestad’s coverage includes cycle, for-cause and sweep examinations of Morgan Stanley’s North American legal entities conducted by the Firm’s securities, commodities, and swap dealer government regulators, their Self-Regulatory Organizations, and the exchanges.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Mr. Friestad worked at Patomak Global Partners where he advised Fortune 500 financial institutions on strategy, risk management, and regulatory compliance projects. Mr. Friestad has co-authored reports for global banks and asset management firms, researched and published blogs on SEC, CFTC, and Federal Reserve rules and regulations, and drafted policies and procedures for financial services firms. Mr. Friestad received his B.A. with Distinction from the University of Virginia in Economics and completed minors in Leadership and Religious Studies. Mr. Friestad is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
